Kerry Civil War Conference at Siamsa Tire
Last week, Siamsa Tíre in County Kerry hosted a conference spanning three days to commemorate the centenary of the Irish Civil War. The conference delved into the war's history, memory, and legacy. Professor Diarmaid Ferriter (U.C.D.) delivered the keynote address titled 'Faith, Reason and Betrayal: The Irish Civil War'.
The entire conference proceedings were captured and recorded by AVC, which allowed people who were unable to attend the conference in person to access the content remotely. AVC live-streamed the conference as it was happening, enabling interested individuals to participate virtually in real-time. This recording and live-streaming facilitated greater dissemination of information and knowledge about the centenary of the Irish Civil War, making it accessible to a wider audience.
The conference was successfully organized and managed by a team of professionals, including Kerry natives Dr Mary McAuliffe, Bridget McAuliffe, and Owen O'Shea. These individuals have extensive experience in conceptualizing, developing, presenting, and promoting historical events to a diverse audience. They have written and published numerous books and articles on the history of Kerry and Ireland, showcasing their expertise in research, writing, publishing, broadcasting, event management, and public relations.
