Conference Microphone System, what is it?
Conference microphone systems are a category of audio equipment designed to facilitate clear communication among meeting participants.
Picture a large gathering seated around a table, accompanied by an additional 100 audience members observing the proceedings. In such a scenario, passing a microphone back and forth among speakers becomes impractical and would result in a significant slowdown.
This is where conference microphone systems step in.
In a typical conference setup, each participant is equipped with their own personal microphone unit, often in a gooseneck style. These microphone units allow participants to address the rest of the attendees while also enabling them to listen to others through a small built-in speaker. Meanwhile, the meeting's chairman or facilitator possesses a special control unit equipped with features such as volume control, mute functionality (to identify speakers or silence those who have exceeded their allotted speaking time), voting capabilities, and more.
These are often also referred to as “Push to Talk” microphones.
