Cork Business Association Awards

The awards, which were run in partnership with JCD, Peninsula, Centra and media partner The Irish Examiner, recognise the outstanding contribution of businesses and individuals working diligently across a variety of business sectors in Cork City and suburbs.

The Task

We have provided stage/lighting/visuals/sound and our technical team for this event for many years in a physical environment but in these times we are in, this was not possible. When our client asked would it be possible to do it virtually, we were on hand to guide them through the process in relation to the technical side of things. It was the first time they held a virtual awards night, but we assured them every step of the way.

Preparation

We decided on a design/layout template for the slide deck which incorporated variations of side by side,3/4 screen and full screen camera/video shots with titles and corporate/sponsor logos.

We also provided a live twitter wall in which we were able to put on screen from time to time. Given it was a virtual event we made a personal video call to ensure we had a good connection. We also asked for pre-recorded videos of those who did not wish or were unable to go live on the night.

We did a full rehearsal prior to the event with the event organiser and the presenters. This was very important as it made the speakers more comfortable in knowing what to expect on the night.

Awards Night

The event itself went perfect. But that is all down to the preparation that was done in advance. It was a very fast paced event with a lot of behind the scenes technical work being done to create a high quality result for the client and their viewers.  It was all over in just under 2hrs. Just after the event the client said the feedback on social media was fantastic. We were able to give the client an analysis of the event in relation to viewing numbers etc. Shortly after we also gave the client the recording of the event.

Client Feedback
“We were delighted to partner with AVC on the virtual CBA Dinner At Home & Cork Business of the Year Awards in April 2021. The team did an impeccable job with a very challenging brief, and the whole city has been talking about the professionalism of the event since. In fact, it has been flagged as one of the most successful virtual events to take place during the pandemic.”

Eoin O’Sullivan, President Cork Business Association.
